Our History – Founded in 2020
ABRAPlp was created to implement educational standards for institutions offering psychoanalytic studies in multiple languages, aiming to train future psychoanalysts. It also seeks to ensure that psychoanalytic knowledge is responsibly shared with psychologists, physicians, educators, and the general public through lectures and seminars.
A framework of standards for psychoanalyst training was developed based on the American model for candidate training, following careful study and consultation with the psychoanalytic community. These standards were reviewed by a group of experienced psychoanalysts actively engaged in both the teaching and clinical practice of psychoanalysis, with the goal of reflecting the contemporary realities of professionals across various countries who work with people in their native languages—listening to and interpreting their emotional experiences.
ABRAPlp supports the psychoanalytic practice of the professionals registered on this website who serve their communities. In doing so, it safeguards—without overstating the term—the psychoanalysts themselves and those who courageously give voice to their suffering.
